I really didn't know to much about this i had just heard that it wasn't sounding like a good idea to do this health care bill. But after going to some of the links that were left i understand it a lot more and i really don't think that it is such a bad idea now. i believe that there are some kinks that need to be worked out before it is officially passed but i think once that is done it could possibly work.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the health care just needs to be fixed but I do not believe that are medicare needs to be cut we need that most of all are seniors need that. soon we will need that but if they cut are medicare there wont be anything left by the time the next generation or any other generation makes it to get to the medicare. so i believe they don't need to pass the bill and they need to leave everything alone with it or make it better not worse.
ReplyDeleteWhile reading the paragraphs from the website http://edition.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/11/21/senate.health.bill.expect/index.html, I noticed a lot more information was given than the media tries to share. There is a whole other point of view given. The republicans and Democratic both make good points, but I can only form one opinion. The changes to the health care bill need to be responsible. America is too far into debt to take any more chances of lowering the income that we Americans bring in. With the technology improving, and taxes being raised, by the time we have children and grandchildren, who will be able to afford it anyway? This is a very complex issue, and it is worth debating. Although, we can not debate this issue forever. Reid's bill, projected to ensure coverage for 94 percent of Americans, includes a range of tax increases and new fees. Is that really something we can handle right now? This bill would also expand government-run Medicaid coverage for the poor to everyone making less than 133 percent of the national poverty level. Which in change, will raise everyone else’s taxes elsewhere. So basically from what I can tell, it is a win/lose situation.
ReplyDeleteAt first I was kind of sketchy about the whole healthcare plan but now that I have studied and read it I’ve formed a strong opinion on it. My opinion about this bill is that it can be a very useful bill if it is not at first abused b/c people need healthcare and it is a recession out in America right now the citizens need all the help that we can get in order to survive. There are a few problems with the healthcare bill but I think that the problems can be solved and it may pave a road to helping Americans who need it. If the bill isn’t passed then I believe we will still make due and get by b/c Americans are survivors but the little extra help wouldn’t hurt anything either. That’s my feelings and opinion on the healthcare bill.
ReplyDeleteI really don’t support nor am I against the new bill, because for one I don’t know that much about it and two I think that if they change the bill now, it might possibly affect the generations in the future and I honestly don’t have any concerns except is this really the right choice they want to make by passing the bill, I think they they should wait before they pass it. The medicare doesn’t need to be cut at all, because eif they cut there won’t be anytime left by the time any generation come around. I do believe that they don’t need to ass the bill, they just need to let it go.
ReplyDeleteI was able to find more information while searching the web.
ReplyDeleteMitch McConnell of Kentucky stated:
"And every senator who goes on record saying that we need to proceed to this monstrosity of a bill, will in effect be voting for higher taxes, higher premiums and cuts in Medicare,"
Vosnews.com/healthcarereform (Voice of America)
Already, two weeks ago, the house of representatives past their own form of the health care bill.
According to http://edition.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/11/07/health.care/, this statement is true, but they are having a much harder time trying to turn this into an actual law.
There was only one republican that voted in favor of the bill.
"Today with help from their liberal House allies, President Obama and Nancy Pelosi finally got what they have been creating behind closed doors these past months -- a government-run health care experiment that will increase families' health care costs, increase the deficit, increase taxes on small businesses and the middle class, and cut Medicare," the statement said.
Another topic discussed quite often was on abortion. The first amendment, introduced by anti-abortion Democrats, bans federal funds for abortion services in the public option and in the insurance "exchange" the bill would create.
And Salyer, I have to agree with some of the things that you said. But is taking a chance without all the sure facts really something that all Americans can take a risk on?
I really do not know much about the new bill but from what Ive been reading about it, it sounds like a good idea. But then again if they past that bill then there's probably a great chance that a lot of people will take advantage of it. For people who really can't do anything about there insurance but try to do as much as they can to afford it deserve the health support in my opinion. Could it affect future generations?? Yes it most likely will. There are a few problems in the bill that need to be discussed and looked into before they consider passing it. Here's a link to the actual bill that i found. http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h956/show. it might help people get a good look at what is actually in the bill.
ReplyDeleteI went to some of the links that dezeray posted. There is a lot more to be debated about then i thought. the democrats and the republicans have good points of views..but there both very different. So there is still a lot of debating to do. On the other hand im going to have to agree with a lot of what the republicans are saying. They make a lot more since in my opinion. But wither way congress needs to figure out some of the problems in the bill. So the people could get a better look at what there trying to do.

ReplyDeleteThis site seemed to have some great details on the bill and if its all true id go for the heal th reform bill. If there is hidden problems I haven't been informed of them or seen anything about them.
The only time i hear about anything that has to do with congress or the government is the half an hour that i have to sit and watch fox and friends in the morning. Not as serious as a show as most other news channels but i get the same information. I have heard of the new plan for health care from Obama and my dad. Not really paying attention, due to it being six in the morning, i have recently opened my ears a little more due to the realization that it is going to affect me really soon. Reading through these articles i have read nothing but good things about the plan for new health care. One thing that i am really happy to hear about is the focus on high blood pressure because that is passed on in my family. I am worrying about my dad because he is 53 and his blood pressure is starting to make me worry. On another note, i think that the feedback from the students also helps me make my decision on the new plan. UNPRECEDENTED! Ha ha ha ha. !]
ReplyDeleteI do believe that we need medicare for everyone because some people have and some people don't because they cant afford it. There is a lot more decisions they are making. The republicans have good points. i went to this website http://scctcgovextracredit.blogspot.com/2009/11/health-care-bill-do-some-research-and.html. This website helped me figure out what it was talking about and what will happen.

ReplyDeleteI went to this following website http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare/. Considering the fact that my family has and issues with insurance and health care i agree there needs to be a change. I find myself asking myself though, Isn't it going to take an awful lot? The way things have been going there is a lot of work to be done. However, I do indeed agree with the bill because its going to make a lot of peoples life's a lot better for them. I have seen people struggle with insurance problems and some people don't even have insurance. I do agree with the fact that people might take advantage of it to much. I will have to find out more about it before I totally understand it all.
ReplyDeletei have been staying involved with the new health care bill. i think it is a great idea! because i think the reason we are in the resection is because of the war in Iraq, george Bush getting in to office and messing everything up.
ReplyDeleteyo yo i say let the man do what he do best
ReplyDeleteim only a senior in high school i have no idea how this bill is going to effect me in the future but it seems like an alright thing so im going to so he should go for it
There's no such thing as "FREE" health care.Someone is going to pay for it.Like our Taxes.Taxes is going to go higher and its high as it is already.
ReplyDeletethe health care bill i think, will be a good thing to bring to the u.s. this is because we need all the help we can get, and especially with money from the recession.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how this bill is going to effect me when i get older but it seems like its going to be ok in the futre. I'm not an expert in this subject but i i think that it would be ok.
ReplyDeleteI don't know too much about this bill, but I believe that they should pass the bill. I think they should past the bill, because it sounds good. So do what you do Barack Obama.
ReplyDeleteI have gone over the healthcare bill as much as possible and feel that overall it is a poorly written bill. In my personal opinion I feel the healthcare bill is an easy running platform for the Democrats. The Democrats depend on the disadvantaged, minority and less educated voter to put them in office. There fore they offer them unrealistic social programs at the expense of the working public with no regards to the potential future repercussion.
ReplyDeleteWith the democrats having control of the House and with the economic conditions in such a state of havoc due to the large number of uneducated and lower income individuals unemployed, the Democrats now have the opportunity to move National Healthcare to the fore front. With little hesitation a large percentage of the voters swayed towards a democratic promised mirage with a world leaving little to desire yet no concrete plan to finance their dream.
Health care it better left in the hands of a modified free market than in a socialistic program controlled by an institution that historically uses excessive personnel and funds to achieve the same results as an equivalent private industry.
I am definately in favor of a health care reform bill. I am so tired of the insurance companies making a killing, denying Americans care and collecting premiums from people for years and dropping them when they experience a serious medical problem. These vipers are able to take advantage of us all and make HUGE profits because they buy many memmbers of the congress by making enormous campaign contributions to them and virtually buying their support in the current system that is beneficial to the wealthy, those with quality jobs and the insurance companies. The rest of us...the Republican party and the insurance companies say, "Who cares?"
ReplyDeleteI agree that another large government bureaucracy to manage all of this is a bad idea and that a mixed economic approach is best, a private sector effort that is heavily regulated and monitored by the government. I want medical coverage for all that is affordable and that cannot deny our citizens needed care. A governments first responsibility is to protect it's citizen, whether that be from foreign enemies or greedy insurance companies.
I talked to my parents about the health care bill and they do not support it. I tried to understand why and they simply said that with us owning a small business we would have to purchase more insurance for all of our employees even though we have a pretty good plan for all of them. I asked my mom if she read the bill and she said that it was too long for her to have time to read it. I have to agree with her, although it worries me that my 83 year old grandpa has to spend over 300 dollars a week just on prescriptions. So right now I'd like to see how this bill is brought out and then later revise it to fix our needs.
